What is CO2 laser skin resurfacing?

In the case of an ablative laser like a CO2 laser, the skin is traumatized during the process. During the procedure, the thin outer layer of skin (epidermis) is removed and the underlying skin (dermis) is heated. Collagen fibers are stimulated to grow as a result. The treated skin appears clearer, smoother, and tighter as the epidermis heals and regenerates.

With non-ablative lasers, such as pulsed light (IPL), the skin is not traumatized, but rather collagen is stimulated, and tone and texture are improved. Although less invasive and less time-consuming, this procedure is less effective.

Based on the patient's cosmetic goals and the condition being treated, the dermatologist chooses the laser type.

Once the treatment area heals, you'll notice a difference in the quality and appearance of your skin. The effects can last for years. Nonablative laser resurfacing results are usually gradual and progressive. Skin texture and pigment are more likely to improve than wrinkles.

Your skin may continue to improve for a year and even for several years. With normal aging, new wrinkles will appear, which can be treated with laser resurfacing.

Working with an experienced dermatologist is crucial given this procedure's delicate nature. At Revitalis, we offer resurfacing CO2 laser treatment with utmost care.
