What causes Psoriasis?

Skin cells can multiply up to 10 times more quickly than usual when someone has the skin condition psoriasis. As a result, the skin develops into red spots that are rough and coated with white scales. In the lowest layer of skin, your body regenerates new skin cells. Until they reach the outermost layer of skin, where they eventually die and flake off, these skin cells steadily advance through the layers of skin. Normally, the entire process takes three to four weeks.

The exact cause of psoriasis is unknown. It is believed to be an immune system issue wherein infection-fighting cells unintentionally kill healthy skin cells. Both genetics and environmental factors are thought to be involved. The illness is not spread by others.

Each person with psoriasis will have different triggers, but some typical ones are as follows:
anxiety, stress , hormonal changes , infections , skin injuries

What causes Eczema?

Several factors can cause eczema including:
•    Your immune system: If you have eczema, your immune system overreacts to small irritants or allergens (triggers) in your environment. As a result, the triggers activate your body’s natural defense system.
•    Your genes: You’re more likely to have eczema if there’s a history of eczema or dermatitis in your family. You’re also at a higher risk if there’s a history of asthma, hay fever and/or allergies.
•    Your environment: There’s a lot in your environment that can irritate your skin. Some examples include exposure to smoke, air pollutants, harsh soaps, fabrics such as wool, and some skin care products.
•    Emotional triggers: Your mental health could affect the health of your skin, which can cause a flare-up of eczema symptoms.

What causes Lichen Planus?

Lichen planus is caused by your immune system attacking your skin or mucous membranes. There is no clear explanation for why this abnormal immune response occurs. It is not contagious.
There are several factors that can trigger lichen planus:
•    Infection with hepatitis C
•    The flu vaccine
•    Pigments, chemicals, and metals
•    Drugs that relieve pain, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, etc.) and naproxen (Aleve, etc.)
•    Heart disease, high blood pressure, and arthritis medications

Do you suffer from the following?

A patchy rash that appears very differently on each individual

Variable-colored rashes with a preference for purple hues with grey scale on brown or black skin, and pink or red with silver scale on white skin

Tiny scaling marks (commonly seen in children)

Bruising skin that is dry and cracked

Soreness, burning, or itching

Recurring rashes that peak for a few weeks or months before going away

How can Psoriasis be treated?

The treatment aims are to decrease scales and inflammation, skin cell growth is moderate, and eliminate plaques.
There are three types of psoriasis treatments:
1.    For mild to moderate psoriasis, creams and ointments administered directly to the skin can be beneficial.
2.    Treatments for psoriasis on the skin include skin-applied corticosteroids, cream retinoids, Vitamin D analogues, salicylic acid, and anthralin.
3.    To help with psoriasis symptoms, light therapy, such as UVB phototherapy, involves exposing your skin to controlled levels of natural or artificial ultraviolet light. This treatment can be given either on its own or in combination with other drugs.

How can Eczema be treated?

Treatment for eczema could include:
•    If you have dry skin, moisturize throughout the day with gentle or sensitive products. After bathing or showering, apply moisturizer to damp skin.
•    Topical steroids, for example, should be applied to your skin as advised by your provider.
•    Reduce itchiness and swelling by taking oral medications such as anti-inflammatory medications, antihistamines, or corticosteroids.
•    You can regulate your immune system's function with immunosuppressive drugs.
•    Using light therapy to improve the appearance of your skin and remove blemishes.
•    You should avoid triggers that cause eczema symptoms to flare up.

How can lichen planus be treated?

Treatment for lichen planus:
Often, lichen planus on the skin clears up on its own after a few months or years. It is more likely to recur if the disease affects your mucous membranes. It is important to see your doctor about once a year for follow-up appointments, no matter what treatment you use.
Medications and other treatments may relieve itching, ease pain, and promote healing. It can be challenging to go through therapy. Consider the potential benefits of treatment against the possible side effects with your dermatologist.
